The petition to remove #LGBT content from the uk curriculum now has 190,671 signatures, sigh. It only needed 100k to be considered for debate in parliament, too!

The counter petition is rapidly gaining ground, being newer. It now has 33,030 signatures, but it needs more!

Pls sign if uk, boost otherwise! 👇

I thought I had my youtube algorithm trained pretty well, but then I clicked on the Shorts tab and BOOM, white supremacists and pro-Russian accounts and right wing conspiracy theorists everywhere. For me! I don't even hate watch that kind of content. How did that even happen? Time for an intervention.

Huh, looks like Feedly has added a "share to Mastodon" button. Neat.

It's always interesting to me how the people that make some of the most hideous, violent and difficult media counteract that content by committing to basic ideas of diversity, respect & honesty in their approach. It nearly always works out for the best.

Also of note, especially for anyone interested in making stories that decentralize men:

- he purposely hired women to write the story
- those women wanted to challenge the limitations of female superheroes, questioning why they have to be weighed down by traumatic back stories, why can't they just exist as they are
- just like Neon Demon, he made this for his daughters, thinking about what kind of role models they deserved to see on the screen

Please boost! Gramps is a diabetic kitty who is up for adoption in West Virginia. I would absolutely adopt him in a heartbeat but I have some circumstances that won’t allow me to take in another cat at the moment. So I figured the best thing I could do is share this little guy! He’s at a kill shelter and I’m so scared he won’t be adopted because he has diabetes. I have had a diabetic cat in the past and it’s super easy to manage!

As the paper breaks down a bit, first they start to smell like vanilla, then they start to smell like chocolate.

Ditched a few books that I wasn't connecting with (into the Free Little Library donation pile) and started this instead. The first story is by a man called Rhys Davies and is about the suspicions of a coal mining community towards a neighbour lady who wears insanely fancy clothes 💯🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

With so many places having done layoffs lately, I wanted to mention the US Digital Service is hiring. It's a wild place to work, but also you get to work on legitimately meaningful projects that affect a lot of people (in 2022, we made it easier for transgender ppl to get passports, helped low-income families buy food, and I got to help identify disadvantage communities for environmental funding). I'm happy to talk about USDS if you're on the fence. http://ow.ly/LpqJ50LVnPV #fedihire #fedijobs
